This question is not really answerable the way Size does matter shirt it deserves to be answered simply because, for one, states of matter are not ordered numerically. Also, not including the hypothetical states of matter, there are more or less 14 states of matter, so it is difficult to say what the eighth state of matter. Here is the list I will provide: Firstly, extra dimensions are not parallel and most certainly do not exist in a parallel universe. So calling extra dimensions “parallel” isn’t the best approach. Anything that exists in the extra dimensions will still be considered a part of our universe. Second, other universes cannot interact with our universe, except in the case of Brane theory or some exceptional events like some Big Bang models.

There are some theories Size does matter shirt out there that predict extra dimensions, most notably String Theory. These extra dimensions exist entirely within our universe and are folded up microscopically. Similar to a line that looks 1D from afar but as you get closer, becomes a 2D plane, these extra dimensions are embedded within our 3D experience. We find gravity to be weaker than expected and we there is no obvious reason for gravitational force to be so weak. As in the diagram above.. in 3 dimensional space, the intensity of a force decreases by a square with the radius. And if this was 4D space, it would reduce by a cube with the radius/distance. And so on for more dimensions. This has lead to the hypothesis that gravity could be “leaking” into other dimensions and that explains its weakness in our 3D experience.
